As we move into July a new initiative has launched to help support consumers wishing to become plastic free. Plastic free July is a global movement started in Australia by the ‘Plastic Free Foundation’. This article briefly explains the movement and how you can get involved.
I came across ‘Plastic Free July’ by accident on Instagram, little did I realise at the time I’d stumbled upon a huge movement that spanned the globe. Worldwide we are beginning to see the devastating effects of plastic on our marine life, worrying still it’s now said we all consume roughly one whole credit card’s worth of plastic a week. Basically we all need to stop using so much plastic, so welcome to plastic free July!
Plastics are still destroying our planet
Stopping the use of plastic can be really daunting and stressful as its promoted to us as consumers as the most convenient way of doing pretty much everything. Plastic Free July has an amazing website packed full of great ideas on how to avoid plastic at home, at work, at school, in our communities and in business. The online community for ditching plastic over July is huge so it is the perfect opportunity to ask for advice or tips on anything you’re struggling to live without.
Head over to ‘Plastic Free July’ or search the tag on instagram to follow the movement and do your best for the planet this month!
If you’re headed to the beach this summer, why not join a beach clean?
